Power-efficient RAN physical layer targeting SoC platforms for NTN and small cells

in partnership with:

Tannera is developing the Embedded L1 solution that serves power-efficient use cases such as NTN and small cells. We designed an efficient SoC architecture that maximizes hardware efficiency by benefiting from highly optimized Tannera's L1 IP cores, which process data-heavy L1 workloads. The solution uses embedded CPUs for orchestration and remaining L1 operations, while optimizing the CPU load to the minimum.

The solution is targeting FPGA-based programmable SoCs and multi-core embedded SoCs.

Non-terrestrial networks
With Release 17 there is a clear path forward in integrating terrestrial networks and satellite communication infrastructure through deployment of non-terrestrial networks. Our Embedded L1 solution enables such deployments with specific focus on low-power implementation and hardware efficiency while meeting performance requirements and high data rates.
Small cells
Our Embedded L1 solution is ideal for small cell deployments that offer low latency and high throughputs for mobile consumers, and high density coverage for low-power, low-speed devices in IoT.
