Server-grade L1
In partnership with Phluido, Tannera proudly presents hardware accelerated L1 software for server-grade applications. Server-grade L1 is a scalable, flexible and easily reconfigurable software-defined physical layer for RAN infrastructure with pre-integrated PCIe-based acceleration. The L1 runs on the off-the-shelf hardware and is platform-agnostic, which particularly supercharges 5G-NR private networks by reducing costs and time-to-market. With integrated hardware acceleration, the solution is suitable for hyperscalers and even massive broadband deployments.
With a commercially proven performance and efficiency, the Server-grade L1 is the most appealing physical layer solution in the market today.

Scalable and flexible solution that enables running a large number of cells and serving a large number of users on a single server
The efficiency of Tannera's and Phluido's IP enables the highest throughput for the limited hardware resources
The Server-grade L1 solution integrates Phluido's software-defined physical layer with Tannera's acceleration technology. It is widely applicable to various use cases from private 5G infrastructure to massive broadband deployments. The software stack is fully compliant with 3GPP Release 17 and supports standardized interfaces for interoperability. Our Server-grade L1 is continuously proving its efficiency and performance in end-to-end and commercially deployed RAN systems.
The solution is platform agnostic and verified on x86 and Arm processors and AMD-Xilinx's FPGA acceleration cards. It runs on bare metal or in the virtualized containers with support for container orchestration. With the accelerator's programmability, market leading efficiency, and virtualization support, the Server-grade L1 solution guarantees flexibility and scalability.
In typical deployments, a split 7.2 is used, thus leaving the software stack with upper L1 functionalities. However, the solution also integrates OFDM and parts of the lower L1 when needed. The flexibility in DU-RU split enables support for a variety of commercial radio units, as well as off-the-shelf software-defined radios for agile and quick deployments.
Depending on the deployment scenario, the communication with upper layers can be over shared memory or networking interfaces.
In its standard form, the Server-grade L1 includes all physical channels in software with enabled BBDEV-compliant lookaside acceleration running on the off-the-shelf PCIe FPGA card. The BBDEV-compliant accelerator includes operations such as LDPC, rate-matching, interleaving, HARQ soft-combining, CRC. However, in custom scenarios, more functionalities are offloaded to hardware including the rest of PUSCH/PDSCH processing ((de)scrambling, (de)modulation, UCI over PUSCH demultiplexing, UCI over PUSCH decoding) and parts of the PUCCH, with focus on PUCCH polar decoding. In custom split 8 deployments, the OFDM is offloaded to hardware as well. All of these features perfectly align with Tannera's efforts to complete an inline acceleration solution for 5G RAN.

The demo shows our Private 5G RAN Solution that integrates Server-grade L1 deployed on a general purpose server. The server is based on Ampere Altra Q80-30 processor with Arm Neoverse-N1 CPU cores. It is connected to Benetel's RAN650 commercial RU via 10 Gbps optical link. Commercial UEs are used for end-to-end functionality demonstration.
Tannera's lookaside acceleration IP runs on AMD-Xilinx Alveo U50 FPGA acceleration card and serves multiple cells.
